Client Agreement
Before we get started, please take a few minutes to read through how Off the Page works — what you can expect from our sessions together, how scheduling and payment work, and a few important notes about the nature of writing coaching. No legalese, just clarity.

Off the Page is a boutique writing consultancy. We work with students and writers to develop their voices, craft stronger essays, and build lasting writing skills. Services may include story excavation, college essay development, program applications, homework help, and general writing coaching.
Each engagement is tailored — the specific sessions and scope will be confirmed at the start of our work together and can be updated by mutual agreement.
Off the Page's rate is $175 per hour. For engagements that extend beyond a single week, invoices are sent at the end of each week covering sessions completed during that period. Payment is due within five business days of each invoice.
Accepted payment methods include bank transfer, Venmo, or Zelle.
Sessions are scheduled by mutual agreement and Off the Page does its best to be flexible. Life happens — if something comes up and you need to move a session, just reach out as early as you can. The more notice, the easier it is to find a time that works for everyone.
Writing coaching can be genuinely transformative. But college admissions — and most other competitive processes — involve factors far outside anyone's control. Off the Page does not guarantee, and cannot guarantee:
- Admission to any college, university, program, or scholarship
- Specific grades, test scores, or academic outcomes
- Acceptance or publication of any written work
- Any particular response from any institution or third party
Admission decisions belong entirely to the receiving institution and are shaped by many factors beyond anyone's influence. Off the Page's role is to help you put your best, most authentic self on the page — and that work has real value regardless of where you land.
Off the Page's liability under this agreement is limited to the total fees paid in the one month prior to any claim. Off the Page is not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind.
By agreeing to these terms, you agree not to hold Off the Page responsible for admission outcomes, academic results, or any decision made by a third party.
Every essay, statement, and piece of writing developed through Off the Page is authentically the student's own. Off the Page may use AI-assisted tools for brainstorming or feedback, but all guidance and final editorial judgment belongs to Off the Page. No AI-generated content will be submitted to any institution on your behalf.
It's your responsibility to understand and comply with any policies your target institutions have about outside assistance. Off the Page isn't able to make representations about what any specific school allows.
Everything you share — personal history, essays, application materials — stays private. Off the Page won't disclose any identifying information to third parties without your written consent, except as required by law. We may reference the existence of client work in general terms (for example, in a testimonial context) unless you ask us not to.
Once paid in full, all written materials developed specifically for you belong to you. Off the Page retains the right to use general frameworks, teaching methods, and non-identifying instructional content developed for its broader practice.
Off the Page may use writing samples from client engagements to develop and improve its internal feedback tools and services. These samples are used solely for internal purposes and are never shared with third parties, publicly attributed, or associated with any individual client's identity in any external context.
If you have a concern, please reach out directly first — almost everything can be resolved with a conversation. If a formal dispute arises, both parties agree to attempt good-faith negotiation, then mediation, before pursuing legal action. This agreement is governed by California law.
This agreement is the full understanding between us. Any changes need to be in writing. Off the Page is a consultancy and not affiliated with any school, university, or admissions office. If any part of this agreement is unenforceable, the rest still stands.
There's no obligation here — but we genuinely love hearing where students land. If you feel like sharing the good news, please do. It means more than you know.
